Snarky Turns Wicked

Happy Saturday! Edna and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers are back with a new challenge: W is for Wicked! Edna and I both turned to Halloween for our inspiration:

Bad is several degrees down the scale from wicked, I know, but I worked with what I had. That included a sentiment from one stamp set, the designer boots from another, and some remarkably old patterned paper. :D The boots are coloured in fashionable purple Copic marker, with lime green laces and shiny gold hooks.
Since I actually made a Halloween card in May, I'll link it up to the May Two Old Bats Anything Halloween challenge.

Our guest designer and current Queen of Snark, Fran, along with the snarky sisters, have offered lots of inspiration to lure you into... making a wicked card! You have two weeks to join us.

Supplies: Neenah white & Recollections black cardstock, Echo Park Apothecary Emporium patterned paper, Catherine Pooler Everything But the Broom stamps & dies, Stampin' Up Tee-tee-Hee stamps, Versamark onyx black ink, Wow clear gloss embossing powder, Copic markers, MFT blueprints 24 stitched rectangle die, Gelly Roll golden star stardust pen

Floral and Feminine for the Sisterhood

Happy Saturday! The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers is back with a classic challenge: F is for F WORDS! There is, of course, the definitive F word; and Edna is showcasing a number of F word ideas behind her. For my card, I went with the F words Feminine and Floral.

My snarky sister Chris knows me well enough to suggest I could also add a third F word: fibbing. :D I was in the mood to make a pretty card that initially hides its snarky intentions, so I pulled out this ATC panel and added some Copic colouring. The rose on her hat gave me the idea to add a rose die cut as an extra element. The Tim Holtz sentiment sticker works well with her "who, me?" posture, I think. The white of the sticker and the ATC background are both toned down with a little warm grey Copic to keep with the vintage feel.

Given that we're the SNARKY Sisters, I think you'll be impressed at the range of F words from the team and our current guest designer and Queen of Snark, Tristan! Feeling full of fun or fury? ;) Come join us!

Supplies: Hero Arts sand, Recollections black & Stampin' Up real red cardstock, STAMPlorations retro fashionistas ATC, Copic markers, Paper Smooches roses die, Tim Holtz snarky small talk sticker

The Snarky Sisters are Underwater

It's a snarky Saturday! Our new challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers is U is for Underwater. Edna has unfortunately taken this challenge far too literally! You don't even have to be underwater while you make your card, unless that's a new technique you'd like to attempt. :D I stuck to having an underwater theme:

This will make a good encouragement card, but really, from the point of view of the small fish, it is rather snarky, don't you think? I started by making my background panel, blending the cardstock with distress ink, laying the wave stencil over and adding more ink, then a layer of translucent embossing paste to finish. While that dried, I got my fish ready. Because the tiny fish get cut all together with one die, I added some blue marker to the white around them so it would blend better with the background. Then, when my shark die cutting was imperfect, I added blue to his edges, too. :D

Where does our newest challenge take you? Be sure to check out the underwater designs of the Sisters as well as our current Queen of Snark and guest designer, Monika! I hope you'll jump in and join us.

Some Snarky Layers

L is for Layers at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers! Edna is taking the challenge quite literally, but the rest of us created our layers with paper, I do believe. ;) As a clean and simple cardmaker, I am not a big fan of layers, but I gave it my best shot:

Some pretty patterned papers always help me when it comes to extra layers, so after I coloured (and matted - layers!) my ATC, I found a coordinating paper. The flowers on it inspired me to make some floral embellishments from another sheet in the pad - three layers of petals and a centre! Plus the blue stem thingies! :D I added a mat layer to the sentiment (designed by sister Chris) as well, breaking the sentiment into two parts to better fit alongside the ATC.

I'm adding this to the never-ending STAMPlorations anything goes challenge.
So many layered cards on the blog, from my sisters and the current Queen of Snark and guest designer, Rachel! Add some layers - and perhaps some snark! - to your project and join us.

The Snarky Stampers Do ATCs

It's time for a new Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge - too bad we missed April 1st by a day! ;) Our new theme is A is for ATC. Also known as Artist Trading Cards or Coins. Edna has helpfully offered the correct dimensions for both!
I had some packaging I thought would make for fun ATC bases, and had enough to cut a pair:

It's a fairly porous kraft-style card, so I used distress oxides with my stencil to make sure the colours would show up. I thought these two Mod Birds from my Favorite Things went well with the snarky stickers from Tim Holtz. These were fun and easy to put together - here's a closer look at each.

More fun inspiration from my sisters in snark as well as our current Queen and guest designer, Fran! Hope you decide to join us.

The Sisters Celebrate Snarky Chris!

We have a special challenge starting today at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers, celebrating our very own snarky sister, Chris! Chris is the newest stamp designer at STAMPlorations, and her first two sets are (what? really?) snarky sentiments! Some of us snuck her sentiments on our cards for our last challenge, but today we wanted to give them a big shoutout. Here's mine:

When I made my previous card, I showed off how perfectly Chris's sentiments work with STAMPlorations paper ephemera. This time, I thought I'd demonstrate they play well with others, too, so I grabbed a Tim Holtz snarky cat. Once I'd coloured him in somewhat fiery colours, I masked him and added a little stencilling to the background. I also added a little shading around the edges of the panel. And of course made sure the sentiment was prominently displayed!

Are you ready to get snarky with the sisters? Visit the blog to see everyone's creations using these fun new sentiments. And we're hoping you have something from STAMPlorations in your stash you can use to join us!

Supplies: Neenah white cardstock, STAMPlorations Hot Mess & Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz Snarky Cats stamps, Versafine onyx black, MFT extreme black & antique linen distress ink, Wow clear gloss embossing powder, Copic markers, Heidi Swapp polka dot stencil, MFT wonky stitched rectangle die

The Sisters are Vibrantly Snarky

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers is back with a new challenge: V is for Vibrant! Early March seems like a good time to add a little extra vibrancy to things. Edna has certainly embraced the challenge, although I am a little worried about her hair. :D I decided to go vibrant with alcohol inks:

This yellow and blue are two of my brightest alcohol inks, so I added a few drops of each to my Yupo panel and blew them around with some rubbing alcohol. While that dried, I matched a couple of Copic markers to colour in the backdrop of this retro ATC panel. And my sentiment? Part of one of two brand new stamp sets from our very own sister, Chris! I know, snarky sentiment sets, who would have guessed? :D
With an ATC and sentiment both from STAMPlorations, I'm adding this to their ongoing Anything Goes challenge.

You will find vibrantly snarky inspiration on the blog from my sisters in snark as well as our current guest designer and Queen of Snark, Granne! Design something vibrant and join us!

The Sisterhood is Quirky

Q is for Quirky is our newest challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers! I would never have guessed that Edna could pull off quirky the way she has for our challenge badge. I did my best to go quirky myself:

I think this is the quirkiest of the crazy birds, with the bonus that I hadn't played with any of them for a long time! And this is definitely among the quirkiest of Shakespeare quotes. :D My bird is watercoloured, die cut and grounded with a little patch of grass.

Wait until you see the quirkiness that awaits you on the Snarky blog, from my sisters and our current Queen of Snark, Beverly! Feel the quirk and join us!

Supplies: Fabriano cream & Bazzill green textured cardstock, Canson watercolour paper, Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz/Sizzix Bird Crazy stamp & die, Versafine onyx black & MFT extreme black ink, Wow clear gloss embossing powder, Zig markers, MFT grass & Sugar Pea Designs cardfront element builder dies

The Sisterhood of Judgemental Stampers

Happy belated Saturday! Which is my way of saying - I'm a day late with my post for the brand new Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge, J is for Judgemental! Please don't judge me. ;) 2022 is shaping up to be just this kind of year for me, I think.  But enough of that, here's my card:

Funny, I'm not the only sister who thought a cat went well with the theme. And of course having some snarky cat stamps made the choice easy. He is watercoloured and fussy cut, then popped up on a panel that suggests why he might be judged. :D

If you haven't already, be sure to check out what my snarky sisters, and current guest and Queen of Snark Cathy, have made for the challenge. And then submit your own project to be judged! :D

Supplies: Neenah white & (?) dark orange cardstock, Canson watercolour paper, Stamptember/Tim Holtz Snarky Cats & MFT I Knead You stamps, Versafine, MFT extreme black & Memento canteloupe & Morocco ink, Wow clear gloss embossing powder, MFT blueprints 29 die, foam tape

It's the SNARKY 200!!!

You read that right - it is time for the 200th challenge here at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!!! We started way back in February of 2014, back when Corona was just a beer, and Instagram didn't exist! And here we are, still going strong despite (because of?) our collective snarkiness. And while we usually welcome snarkless creations, for this landmark challenge, it's ANYTHING SNARKY GOES!  And if the invitation to be snarky isn't enough, the winner of this challenge will win a $10 gift to Lost Coast Designs, who is generously sponsoring us! (Check out this link to see some of their snarkier stamps!)

This is an anything snarky goes challenge, but a lot of the sisters were in a snarky Christmas mood, including me:

If you have an actual stamp set of snarky Christmas cats, it seems a shame not to use them! :D I added a little extra grey shading to the cat, and coloured in the lights before adding Glossy Accents for dimension and shine.

Just for fun, I made a second version with blue bulbs, for a friend who has a white tree and all-blue lights:

Check out all the snarkiness on the Sisterhood blog, from the team and our current Queen of Snark, Michelle! This special challenge will last FOUR WEEKS, so pile on the snark and join us!

Supplies: Neenah white cardstock, Craft Smith red card base (for red & green card, Sunny Studio subtle grey tones patterned paper (for blue card), Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz Snarky Cat Christmas stamps, MFT extreme black ink, Copic markers, MFT wonky stitched rectangle die, Glossy Accents

The Sisterhood of Yuletide Stampers

Oh look, here's Edna, ready to roast Chet's nuts - oh wait, I mean some CHESTNUTS on the fire to get ready for Christmas - and so are the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers with our new challenge, Y is for Yuletide! My card today is exactly as snarky as you want it to be...

In an admittedly small sample size, women are far quicker to get the potential snark on this card than men. :D I stamped and masked a battery so I could add a second leaning against it, then coloured them with Copics. The sentiment is stamped in red and embossed - as are the batteries, of course, I emboss everything I can. :D I added a couple of scored lines on each side of the panel before adding it to a card base with patterned paper.

Yuletide is approaching, so I hope you will consider joining us! Be sure to check out what my sisters in snark, and our newest Queen of Snark and guest designer Justene have created for the challenge!

The Sisterhood of Naughty Stampers

Now that the weather is getting chillier on the northern half of the globe, Edna is here to heat things up with a new Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge: N is for Naughty! So hey, I made a cat card!

A Tim Holtz Snarky Cat seemed the perfect choice for this challenge, especially when I added the little bird for him to eye. The sentiment is part of the same set, so that made it easy. A little Copic colouring, some patterned paper, and a bit of sparkle on his jingle bells and hat trim were all I felt were needed.

My sisters in snark, as well as our Queen of Snark and guest designer Tristan, are up to all kinds of naughtiness over on the Snarky blog! Hope you'll join in the fun!

Supplies: Neenah white cardstock, Teresa Collins Noël patterned paper, Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz Stamptember Snarky Cats stamps, MFT extreme black ink, Copic markers, PSX silver glitter 3D paper paint, frosted lace Stickles

The Sisterhood of Rude Stampers

Today at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers, we're being more than snarky, we're being RUDE! Yes, our newest challenge is R is for Rude. You know we'll cover the entire spectrum, from somewhat rude to in your face RUDE. Mine tends more to the somewhat:

Of course, depending on how sensitive to advancing age the recipient is, he or she might consider it very rude! It may look like I'm stuck on Halloween colours, but really, I just decided to take a break from all grey cats, all the time. Going through some backgrounds in my stash, I like how he popped against this embossed black panel. (Done with a friend's embossing folder oh so long ago.) Tim Holtz's snarky sentiment stickers are always a reliable source for a little rudeness. :D
I'm adding this to the Wednesday Anything Goes challenge at Simon Says Stamp

Rudeness abounds on the Snarky blog, from my sisters and our newest Queen of Snark and guest designer, Jen! Get a little rudeness out of your system and join us!

The Sisterhood of Pink Stampers

Are you ready for a new Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge? Traditionally in October, the sistahs acknowledge Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a Pink Halloween challenge, but just to be snarky, we're breaking with that and saying that P is for EVERYTHING PINK! Some people are big fans of pink, me... not so much. But here I am, rising to the challenge with a Christmas card!

I was actually halfway through another card when this one popped into my head. I cut some snowflake masks with dies, arranged them on my card panel, and blended two shades of distress ink over them. Since the thought of snow can drive one to drink :D, I thought my sentiment worked.
The main reason I chose a holiday theme for my card... Jingle Belles is NOT messing with tradition and their annual Pink Christmas challenge is on now.

We have a retired sister returning as this week's Queen of Snark and guest designer... Jane! She and my teammates have swathed the Snarky blog in shades of pink - go take a look and then join us!

Supplies: Neenah white & Memory Box Berry Red cardstock, Riley & Co Weather Outside is Frightful stamp, Versamark, Memento Rose Bud & spun sugar & picked raspberry distress ink, Wow clear gloss embossing powder, Sizzix/Tim Holtz mini paper snowflakes  & MFT blueprints 24 stitched rectangle dies

Celebrating Birthdays at the Sisterhood

Happy snarky Saturday! It's time for a new Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge, and we have decided to celebrate - with B is for Birthday! I may have to look into getting a set of pennants like Edna's for the next birthday bash I host. :D While snark is always optional for our challenges, I managed a little on today's card:

For some reason, I seem to make a lot of snarky birthday cards. :D I wanted something a little different from my usual, and thought this sentiment paired perfectly with the patterned paper I had leftover from the 12 Kits of Occasions I was lucky enough to guest for. (Thank you, Tracey!) I added a pair of chipboard specs from STAMPlorations, coated with a bit of gesso and then painted with blue acrylic paint.

Lots of birthday inspiration from my sisters in snark and our current Queen of Snark and guest designer, Melanie! Hope you'll join us.

Supplies: Neenah white cardstock, Vicki Boutin Let's Wander patterned paper, MFT Sassy Pants Birthday Greetings 2 stamp, Versafine onyx black ink, Wow clear gloss embossing powder, CRAFTplorations sunglasses, white gesso, Decocraft blue acrylic paint
