A Confession, an Announcement... and Cards

First, the confession: despite the best of intentions, I rarely manage to play along with the weekly challenges at the challenge blog CASology. I follow the blog faithfully, save the cue word... and then *poof*! Time runs out.
Then the other day, the post asked commenters to guess what what their 100th challenge word would be... and I was the one who got it right! That means I have the privilege of joining the talented design team as a guest for July. Woo hoo!
I decided I really should get my act together and get a card made IN TIME for the current 100th challenge, with the cue word CELEBRATE.

And here is my completely unsubtle approach to that word:

In my personal definition of it, this squeaks in under the CAS (clean and simple) style. Although there are a lot of die cut glasses, they combine to form one main focal image. The hardest part of the card was trying to figure out how I was going to adhere all the glasses in just the *random* way I wanted them. Micro glue dots to the rescue! Micro glue dots are entirely too large for those teeny sequins, though... the smallest possible dots of Glossy Accents hold them in place.
With all the Paper Smooches glasses, I am also going to enter this in the current Anything Goes challenge at SPARKS. I have a second Paper Smooches card I made, but it is such a major CASE (copy and share everything) of a card by current guest designer Diane that I'm certainly not entering it in a challenge. It will make a great end-of-school-year card though -- and that's something to celebrate, too!

One more thing to celebrate... I think I've proved to myself that if I put my mind to it, I really can make a challenge card on time!

Supplies: (celebrate) a rainbow of cardstock from various companies including Stampin' Up, Lawn Fawn Hello Sunshine patterned paper, Paper Smooches Free Spirits Icons & Avery Elle Cheers dies, Simon Says Stamps sequins; (yee haw) white, Stampin' Up (?) blue & kraft & Bazzill textured yellow cardstock, Paper Smooches Smarty Pants & Buckaroo stamps, Versafine onyx black, Memories black & Memento Luxe espresso truffle inks, Zing clear embossing powder, Prismacolor pencils, pop dot tape & squares

News!

That's me! While normally I try to avoid ever having to be a designated driver ;) I am thrilled to be joining the other Designated Designers over at the Drunken Stampers Challenge Blog. You can see all the newest designers here. I am on Team Yellow Canary, along with my stamping buddy Jessi, who encouraged me to try out. (Thanks, Jessi!) A Yellow Canary is not a cocktail I've ever tried, but it sounds quite delightful, particularly if I accidentally leave out the Galliano. :P
I wanted to have a card to go along with my announcement, but this has been one of those weeks of much to do and little time to craft. So a reprise of a card that to me fits with my new design team's philosophy...

Original details here

My official duties start Saturday, when I'll be back with a project for my first challenge as a designated designer!

Liebster Blog Award!

I have been VERY remiss in not acknowledging this Liebster Blog Award, given to me by the always awesome Emily! Her card-making is always totally inspiring (if occasionally a little intimidating, because she is so talented) and she and I have become big-time email friends.
There are a couple of conditions for this award if you have been tagged and want to participate.
Create a post where you post the 'Love Blog' image. You should also blog the person's link that gave you the award and inform her/him that you accept the award. You can then choose three to five favourite blogs which you also link in your post, then each blogger will inform you that they have been tagged.
Please note: The aim of this action is that we bring unknown, good blogs to light, so it is probably best to choose great blogs that are just starting out or who don't have a lot of followers. Not a requirement... just a suggestion!
So just about everyone has more followers than me ;) ... but here are three bloggers I enjoy visiting.
Amber @ She Sure is Sketchy Amber is the artistic force behind AmberINK. This is her personal artistic blog, and is always inspiring to visit.
Donelda @ Wiggy's World Check this blog out -- Donelda is a CAS (clean and simple) Canadian stamper with great cards and ideas.
Marilyn aka Peggy @ The Nutty Cardmaker Peggy's another fellow Canadian (!) and always has fun blog entries to enjoy.
Thank you again, Em! I hope to be back with a card or two soon... if I could just figure out where I left my card-making inspiration... Pin It Now!

Who, Me?

The sweet and very talented Emily has generously awarded me with this:

Emily's blog, ArtFromtheHeart, stylish? Check. Mine? Um, not so much. Well, it's a stylish background, I suppose (thank you, Blogger). And the g's in the title? They're quite stylin'. So, I will graciously accept. ;)
In accepting this honour, I have to share eight things about me. Hmmmm...
  1. I am extremely left-handed. (Yes, handedness comes in degrees.) The only thing I do with that other hand is wield scissors, which, come to think of it, may help explain why my fine cutting skills occasionally leave something to be desired.
  2. Favourite author: Charles Dickens.
  3. Cary Grant = swoon. Has since the first time I saw To Catch a Thief when I was maybe seven.
  4. Favourite musical: Sweeney Todd. Stephen Sondheim is a genius wordsmith.
  5. Favourite movie: Holiday. See #3 above.
  6. Book I'm currently reading: Beautiful Lie the Dead by Barbara Fradkin.
  7. Favourite colour: red.
  8. I'm not fond of having my picture taken. (What, you guessed that from my avatar?)
I also have to pass this award on to eight deserving bloggers. This is tricky; I'm so new at this blogging business, most of my recipients will likely go, "What? Who?" And I'm sure some will have received this same award before. But award it I will! (In no particular order...)
  1. Angela @ Paper Cupboard
  2. Meg @ Corgi Creations
  3. Donelda @ Wiggy's World
  4. Julie Ranae @ Julie's Open Window
  5. Cheryl @ CAFE Expressions
  6. Lisa @ Dahlhouse Designs
  7. Michelle @ Freedom in Creating
  8. Heather @ Bits & Pieces
Now I just have to let these stylish people know...
