EPIC Mixed Media

Happy SUMMER Saturday! The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers is celebrating by going all Arty!

That's right, the newest challenge is A is for ARTY — we are looking for your creations of mixed media glory! This can be a bit of a challenge for the usually clean-and-simple me, but here's my effort:

Let us count the media... gelli print background using emboss resist technique and acrylic paints; stamped Hipster watercoloured with Zig markers; Hipster glasses emphasized with Wink of Stella black glitter marker; patterned paper frame dry-embossed with a woodgrain impression plate; chipboard arrows gessoed and painted with black acrylic paint; sentiment stamped and clear-embossed. Not a lot by true mixed media standards — but a lot of different media for me!
I am entering this into my friend Heather's challenge at the Foiled Fox blog, Simply Irresistible (emboss resist).  And since the inside reads "Have an EPIC birthday", I'll add it to the "Anything Goes" challenge at Seize the Birthday, too.
I hope my example makes you want to get all inky and painty too! Be sure to check out what my sisters in snark have made... that's where you'll see true mixed media art! We also have a terrific inspiration from our newest Queen of Snark, Toni. Hope you'll join us in our ARTY challenge!

Shopping (and Copying) Our Stash

The current challenge at Shopping Our Stash is "Happy Mail" — anything writing, typing, mail-related. When I saw Donna's card, I realized we both had the same, shall we say vintage, Stampin' Up patterned paper. I mentioned to her I could just copy her card and enter the challenge! If you know Donna at all, you won't be surprised to hear she immediately double-dog dared me to.
Of course when it came right down to it, I didn't quite copy her card, but I did CASE it! Here's my version:

Same patterned paper! And a similar typewriter. Mine doesn't have paper in the carriage (yes, I'm old enough to know typewriter terminology...), so I had to add a sentiment separately. I made sure to find one that was at least partially in typewriter font. I really liked the pops of red on Donna's card, so embossed a strip of red cardstock to coordinate with the die cut I used to cut out the main panel.
With heat and dry embossing adding some texture to my card, I'm adding this to Simon Says Stamp's Monday "Touchy Feely" challenge. Also because I like the title. 😂

Supplies: Stampin' Up very vanilla, real red & basic black cardstock, Stampin' Up Typescript patterned paper, Cavallini Vintage, PSA Lovebirds, & Stampin' Up sentiment stamps, Versafine onyx black ink, Ranger clear embossing powder, Darice diagonal stripe embossing folder, MFT diagonal stitch rectangle & Spellbinders circle dies, Marvy/Uchida corner-rounding punch, pop-dot tape

Reminder: Anything Goes with Bugaboo!

The middle of the month 😱 is a good time to remind everyone that the June challenge at Naughty or Nice, ANYTHING GOES, continues for another 10 days! Even better, we have prizes for our Naughty and Nice picks, as well as for a randomly chosen entrant!

Using an image from our generous sponsor, Bugaboo, called Fun Flowers, it was easy to whip up a cute and summery thank you card:

I coloured my flowers with Spectrum Noir and Sharpie markers (I don't have yellow or green in SNs) and shaded the background with blue chalk. The bug wings and flower centres are sparkled up with Wink of Stella, which totally justifies the gems framing the die cut sentiment.
When it's Anything Goes, there's nothing to keep you from joining us!

Supplies: white & black cardstock, Recollections gingham patterned paper, Bugaboo Fun Flowers digital stamp, Taylored Expressions Thanks die, Spectrum Noir & Sharpie markers, Multicrafts craft chalk, clear glitter Wink of Stella, Hero Arts gems

D is for...

Yes, we have come to one of the Sisterhood's favourite challenges, D is for Drunk! I'd say Edna would have fit right in on the set of Mad Men, don't you think? For this challenge, we are looking for a drinking or alcohol-related card or other creation. And I have to say, I think I have come up with the ultimate all-occasion card for this one:

See what I mean? There are so few situations that DON'T call for wine! 😂 In fact, making my first usable distress oxide ink background may have called for a celebratory glass of wine. I used some crumpled plastic wrap to splat the ink on the panel, drying and adding more a few times, then flicking water on and blotting it with paper towel to get lots of variation. The wine glass is die-cut several times and adhered together to build up a little dimension, since I'd never be able to get pop-dot tape narrow enough to fit that stem. While I don't know why the wine in the glass is striped, I did find patterned paper to complement it.
If wine isn't your beverage of choice, there are other libations on offer over at the Snarky blog! Do come and join us!

Supplies: white & Papertrey Ink soft stone cardstock, Studio Calico patterned paper, Papertrey Ink Uncorked stamps and dies, Neat & Tangled Cowbell & Concord & 9th Perfectly Penned stamps, Versafine onyx black, Simon Says Stamp schoolhouse red & faded jeans distress oxide inks, Ranger clear embossing powder, Winnie & Walter Katharine pierced rectangle die

Life's a Beach

Hooray for June! Maybe — just maybe — summer will arrive one of these days. In the meantime, Naughty or Nice Challenges has some fun for you... an ANYTHING GOES challenge — with prizes!
We are sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps this month, so our Naughty and Nice picks will be getting a sweet prize! In addition, we have a fun Art Impressions stamp to offer to a lucky random winner.

The Troublemakers were also lucky enough to choose some images to work with, and I picked JJ Beach. Normally I don't use a lot of people on my cards, but this was too much fun to resist:

I may have been influenced in my choice by my other challenge team at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers, where the current challenge is B is for Beach. JJ is coloured with Prismacolor pencils, and of course I had to glam up her sunglasses with iridescent medium and Glossy Accents. Glossy Accents was added to her drinks (one in the hand AND one in the bush!), the flower centres of her sandals and her lip gloss. Tilting the panel gave me just the right amount of room for a die cut sun.

Since it's an Anything Goes challenge, what are you waiting for? You have until June 25th to join us!

Supplies: white & yellow cardstock, My Mind's Eye Lime Twist Life of the Party patterned paper, Bugaboo JJ Beach image, Prismacolor pencils, Winsor & Newton iridescent medium, Glossy Accents, MFT wonky stitched rectangle & Lil' Inkers stitched small sun die, pop-dot
