Seize the Birthday: By the Sea

It's a new Seize the Birthday Thursday! Our fearless leader Nancy picked the latest topping, and it is BY THE SEA. Mine is more a suggestion of the sea, but I think it's close enough to fit the theme:

I drew inspiration from two cards (here with the same patterned paper and here with the anchor) I made earlier this summer. The patterned paper has the same compass rose randomly stamped on it as I used with gold embossing on the vellum circle. I was able to die cut a few more anchors from the same sheet of alcohol inked paper that I'd used before, and picked one for the other focal point. I die cut the sentiment banner from a piece left over from the larger panel. And in a rare move for me, I even brushed the edges of the panel with the same ink the background stamping is in!

We have a new face at the birthday party - my friend Julie has joined the team! We also have Jenny continuing as our surprise party guest. Check out theirs, and the rest of the design team's beautiful seaside cards!

Supplies: Neenah natural white cardstock, Yupo paper, vellum, Simple Stories Urban Traveler patterned paper, Unity Direction of Your Heart & Clearly Besotted Many Mini Messages stamps, Versamark, MFT biscotti & Memento Paris dusk ink, Wow clear gloss & Simon Says Stamp antique gold embossing powder, Jacquard PiƱata alcohol inks, Paper Smooches anchor, Spellbinders circle & MFT blueprints 29 & wonky stitched rectangle dies

Pin It Now!

I do like your inspiration for this card and that anchor is so real looking with the effect of being very old.

Fantastic card, great pairing of the paper with the focal points. Gorgeous compass stamp and beautifully embossed in gold. Fab. way to do the HB on the same paper, it's hardly noticeable.

That compass image is really gorgeous, and I love the blue of the anchor. The sentiment seems hidden even though its so clearly in the front. Fantastic nautical card, Lindsey!

It is definitely a nautical theme, so I think it fits right in with the sea, important to have those two products when out in the sea...an anchor and a compass. Well done!

Love the anchor details and the compass stamp, always needed when sailing the seas. The background paper is perfect.

This is fantastic - I have a soft spot for maps and compass roses so this warms my heart. Gorgeous anchor too! (not surprising - I have this die and stamp too)

A wonderfully designed card! I love how the patterned paper echoes your stamped compass and the AI die-cut anchor is the perfect contrast!
