Seas the Day at Scrap 'n Stamp!

Happy first Friday of the month! It's time for a new Scrap 'n Stamp blog hop! We are calling our August hop SEAS THE DAY - projects with a beach/ocean/water theme. And just to challenge ourselves a little more, we decided to make engineered cards! We are using Photoplay card kits, which made the engineering part stress-free. ;) I used the Tunnel Card Kit for mine:

From the front, it doesn't look much different from an ordinary card! (but a little harder to close completely - I think that's more first-time user error than a flaw of the kit). Given our theme, I grabbed a selection of my Whittle dies and some patterned paper - this is from an older My Favorite Things pad, but here is a similar one. I coloured the octopus and the sun with Copics.

And when you open the card, you get this!

I used a couple of rounded rectangle dies to make the tunnels into my card interior. For the very bottom layer, I used a stencil with a couple of distress inks. I covered the top two layers with more patterned paper. Then it was a matter of adding my sentiments and my sea critters where I wanted them.

I am really pleased with the way this card turned out for a first attempt with this kit! I think my Scrap 'n Stamp teammates had fun too. Check out their creations and comment along the way for your chance to win a $50 gift certificate to the Scrap 'n Stamp store! Here's the hop list:

Such cute critters and really nice tunnel card. Placing the scene on would be so much more fun with all those different layers. Perfect choice of paper. Cute cute card!

Love your card and sentiment! I am trying to “stretch” and use more patterned papers as I seem to have amassed a bit and have not used it yet. This is a great example to inspire me! Thank you!

This is adorable! I thought it was two different cards but it's so much more fun as a single interactive card. Love all the layers and windows!
