Seize the Birthday: Pastels

Here we are with the first Seize the Birthday challenge for September! JoAnn has picked our new optional *topping*, and it is Use PASTEL Colours Only. Wow, who knew that one simple word could cause such an immediate brain freeze? :D Eventually I created this card:

Clean and simple and very pastel! I started with my card base, masking off most of it with a torn paper mask. I blended three pastel shades of distress ink along the left side. I then used the same inks to stamp a music background over top. I angled the stamp on purpose - way better than trying to stamp a background cling stamp straight and being just a tiny bit off. ;) I die cut my flowers and sentiment banner from white cardstock, using the same pink ink to colour the sentiment border and stamp the sentiment.

Jenny returns as our surprise party guest, and she and the design team have worked wonders with pastel colours! With or without the the topping, I hope you'll join us with your own birthday card creation.

Supplies: Neenah white cardstock, Local King Rubber Stamp Notes & Clearly Besotted Sweet Little Sentiments stamps, Versamark & spun sugar, milled lavender & tumbled glass distress ink, Wow clear gloss embossing powder, Simon Says Stamp Fresh Daisies & Paper Smooches Bannerific dies

Beautiful card Lindsey. You did great with the pastels even if you did have a brain freeze :) I love how you masked off the side and blended the pretty colors. The white die cut flower really shines against it. Love your card.

Another winner, gorgeous card in your style, that brain freeze thing is real but you seemed to overcome it.

The older I get the more I can't stamp anything straight! So I think going with an angle was a great choice1 Love the simplicity of this card! Have a great Friday!

Looks like I am not the only one that had a bit of trouble with pastel cards. I am so impressed with the one that you made. I love that it is simple and one layer. Easy for mailing and super cute.

Glad your brain freeze thawed, resulting in this lovely pastel border + white flowers combination. The angled sentiment adds to the beauty!

I love the look of the torn mask. I need to try that myself. My brain was still frozen even after my card was complete. Pastels are DEFINITELY a challenge but you rocked it.
