Seize the Birthday: Texture

April's almost over, but we do have time to fit in one more Seize the Birthday Thursday!

Our (always optional) topping this time is TEXTURE. For my first card, I went with a classic way for adding some texture... an embossing folder:

For all the music-related supplies I have, I don't make cards with them often enough. For this one, I started by making my little musical scene, stamping in black and embossing everything before adding a little colour with Copics. That helped me decide what colour cardstock to emboss with musical symbols. A kraft card base looked better than a white one, to my eyes. As it's the end of the month, Simon Says Stamp has an Anything Goes Wednesday challenge, and I'll enter my musical owl there.

For a second card, I went with a faux-embossed look by using a cover plate die.

This cover plate was inspired by a card my friend Ardyth made! I haven't adhered each and every petal down, and may go back and do that - but I'm undecided, I also like the way some are not completely flat. Thoughts? For the rest of the card, I used a hole punch to make a small flower centre and sponged it in yellow and orange, then used the same colours for my sentiment strip. Very clean and simple.

We have one last card from our current surprise party guest, Tenia! She and the Seize the Birthday team have lots of interpretations of our topping theme this week, so be sure to visit. Hope you'll come and join us!

Love both of your cards Lindsey. The owl is so cute and the red embossed panel is perfect with it. Love the stitched flower cover plate you used on the the 2nd card, very pretty.

I have a fondness for EF and I love the musical one that you used on your first card. What a cute owl making music. I didn't know that they did that. Lol
Your second card is very unique and a great take on the challenge for texture. I like that you didn't glue all of the petals and I absolutely love the single colored center. You are an over achiever with tow great cards.

Both cards are super sweet, Lindsey! Love the musical scene with the cute owl in the first card and the bold color combination of that! The second card is so lovely! I love white on white and the pop of yellow! I would leave the petals as they are now :)!

Two fab cards for the textured theme! I love how you've left the daisies, gives it extra dimension.
