25 Days of Christmas Tags: Day 21

Happy weekend, and welcome to Day 21 of the 25 Days of Christmas Tags event! Today we have Studio Katia as guest and sponsor. 

Studio Katia is a Canadian company, yay! My tags are appropriately snowy: 

When I saw some of the tag designers use these cute snowmen stamps last year, I knew they had to come and live at my house, too. This one is quick and easy to colour, with his carrot nose, earmuffs, and just a little shading. For the tag base, I blended some distress oxide ink down to the snowy horizon, then added some splatters of perfect pearls in water. Once that dried, I added the tree and embossed it in verdigris embossing powder - I think this is my very favourite, but please don't tell all my other ones. ;) The snowman is standing on a drift of Stickles. 

My next two tags are quick and simple: 

They are also examples of my motto, THEY'RE JUST TAGS. When I adhered the white backing to the coloured fronts, I didn't get them perfectly lined up. It's particularly obvious on the deep purple tag. That's when it's good to remember it's a tag, glanced at mostly to see who the gift belongs to! ;) The teal one (upcycled from an old school notebook - former teacher here!) is embossed in white with flecks of gold, while the purple is shiny in silver.

I'm not sure this was the most brilliant choice to ink up after almost a solid month of daily crafting :D but I hadn't used this cute stamp yet! It's watercolored with Zig markers. I used a glitter brush marker to blend some of the areas for a little extra shimmer. And since I have prior experience with watercolouring running with Stickle use, I chose a white glaze pen to add a little shine and dimension to the bone and hat trims.

25 Days of Christmas Tags: Day 20

Happy Friday! Welcome to Day 20 of Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags event! There are not too many days left now. Today we are welcoming a new guest and sponsor, The Greetery!

As a brand new sponsor, The Greetery sent a generous package to the members of Tracey's tag team. My package included a great cardstock, stamp and die combo - Speed Tagging. And at great speed ;) here are at the tags I made: 

Let me show you the cardstock and die components of this brilliant combo: 

Please excuse the large, central watermark, but I don't want to accidentally be responsible for any papercrafting piracy. As you can see, the Speed Tagging die cuts seven tags at once, and the cardstock panels have seven beautiful tags. Then you can add as much or as little as you like to them! I added sentiments to six, and just a sparkly die cut to one. Here are a couple of close ups: 

Of course, you don't need the patterned cardstock to use the die. I made a couple of tags out of regular cardstock, just as proof: 

The other twelve tag bases are now in my bin-of-many, ready to be used. For the left one, I added a little green ink to the edges, and stamped evergreen boughs and a sentiment in the centre. For the right one, I masked off the star to stamp the "joy" in red, then used a Versamarker to stamp the star and emboss in gold embossing powder. 

The small images included in the Speed Tagging stamp set gave me pause for a moment, but here's my bonus card for today: 

This frame die cut provided an ideal solution for me - small images in the two left panels, and a two-part sentiment on the right. I added a few Perfect Pearls holly berries and star sequins as embellishments.

Seize the Birthday: Sparkle & Shine

It's a Seize the Birthday Thursday! That means I got to make a birthday card! :D Seemed like such a change from Christmas cards and tags. Although not that big a change, since our new *topping* is... Sparkle & Shine! Before we begin, let us all take a moment to agree that sparkle and shine on cards is very hard to photograph. So imagine my card in real life: 

I tried foiling with transfer gel and my die cutting machine for the first time, and I may have a new addiction! This is done with a fireworks stencil and rainbow shattered glass foil. (I bought the foil after a storeowner told me it would work for hot foiling. It does not. So of course I had to get some transfer gel so the foil wouldn't go to waste. That's how we crafters think, right?) It worked so well and is so shiny in real life. It was hard to know exactly how to add a sentiment without taking away too much from the image, but the central banner sentiment seemed the best. A reasonably quick card to make with major impact! First time with the stencil, the gel and the foil, so off to Darnell's NBUS challenge this goes, as well as to the STAMPlorations stencil challenge.

25 Days of Christmas Tags: Day 19

Today is Day 19 of Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags event! Today we are welcoming Waffle Flower as our guest and sponsor! 

I think my teammate Joyce and I both count Waffle Flower's little mouse amongst our favourites. I used him to make a pair of tags: 

I decided to break out of my red-is-best habit and watercolored one with blue accessories and one with green. I had a sentiment ink match for the blue, but went with black ink for the other sentiment. This little mouse set also comes with the world's smallest heart stamp, which on the blue tag I decided to stamp multiple times with the world's palest pink ink. At least you can see it in real life, and just barely in my close up. ;) On the other tag I added a few iridescent confetti.

If I'm going to use mice, I'd better get a cat involved for my card... ;) 

This cat is from Hello Stampurr, not a Christmas set, but a big red bow makes her quite festive! A big sentiment and some patterned paper make this just Christmasy enough.

25 Days of Christmas Tags: Day 18

Here we are at Day 18 of the 25 Days of Christmas Tags event! I don't know about you, but making tags every day is making the month of pandemic November pass surprisingly quickly, and I am very grateful to Tracey for that!

I have two tags and a card for you today. I went all jingly for the first one! 

I think I've found another sentiment perfect for 2020! ;) Especially the keeping calm part. The jingle bell is embossed in gold tinsel, which of course is so much more sparkly in real life. With an image like this, it seemed obvious to add some real life jingle bells! 

My second tag:

These little gingerbread men are the cutest! I gave this one chocolate chip eyes, gumdrop buttons and an icing scarf. That's how I envision it, at least. He's popped up on some subtly patterned paper. I was going to leave him super clean and simple, but then I remembered - I have little gingerbread confetti! I realize these may be designed more for shakers, but they're perfect for this tag. 

I've got a CAS card for today, too: 

This is such a great die set! Santa's face and his hat are coloured with Copics. Don't tell Duncan, but I went into his as-yet-unplayed-with tub of pom-poms and found a small white one. I still had to trim it, but it was perfect for Santa's hat. I found some patterned grey paper for the backing panel, and mounted everything on a red card base.

25 Days of Christmas Tags: Day 17

Welcome to Day 17 of the 25 Days of Christmas Tags, hosted by Tracey McNeely! Today we welcome guest and sponsor Picket Fence Studios! 

One of my favourite Picket Fence Christmas sets is On a Christmas Walk. I love this rustic little snowman! 

Look how happy he is to receive this present! He and the gift are coloured with Copic markers. I used some distress oxide ink to blend a sky, then spritzed the tag with shimmer mist. Instead of a sentiment, I used a patterned paper date block. 

While the markers were out, I also coloured this little deer:

It never hurts to have a few neutral-coloured tags on hand, so I kept this one simple with some polka dot paper and another patterned paper sentiment. The gold jingle bells add a little glitz. 

Speaking of glitz: 

Picket Fence also makes dies for foiling! In iridescent silver foil on black, this giant sentiment didn't need too much else. Again the patterned paper came in handy.
