25 Days of Christmas Tags: Day 5

Welcome back to another day of tags! We're onto Day 5 of Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags, with today's fun guest and sponsor, Newton's Nook. 

Jen and Jeff of Newton's Nook (staff to Newton the cat, I am sure) generously sent me their new set, Holiday Stockings. These images were perfect for making a simple set of tags.  

Each image is coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut. I used the same tag style for each to keep them unified as a set, but used different colours and backgrounds to add interest. Of course the stocking cuffs needed some Stickles - or, for the puppy, some puffy snow - for fun! A little closer look at each:

25 Days of Christmas Tags: Day 4

It's already Day 4 of Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags! (It's so handy when the numbers of a challenge match the date...) Today we have Reverse Confetti as our guest and sponsor. 

It's easy to tell that it is still early in November, as I made more than one tag! ;)

Reverse Confetti sent Tracey's team a fun soon-to-be-released stamp set called Christmas Circles. I made my first two tags using an easy technique that I almost always forget about - using the back of the stamp. I made the background using second and third-generation stamping in red and green before adding the main circle sentiment and heat embossing in green tinsel and red glitter embossing powders. For the third tag, I found patterned paper with presents on it to go with the "no peeking" sentiment.

This uses the recently released stamp set Tiny Trees. This one was also quick and easy to put together.

Snarky Fantasies

Edna has her head in the clouds today with a new Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge, F is for Fantasy! Whether it's fantasy worlds or your own private one, we're looking for your fantasy-related creations. I went for a popular but unfulfillable dream many have...

When in doubt, out come the Crazy Cats! And the fish skeleton seemed to be the perfect accompaniment for the snarky sentiment. I used a brick stencil with two shades of red inks for a weathered look, and used the darker of the two for the embossed sentiment.

25 Days of Christmas Tags: Day 3

Welcome to Day Three of Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags! We have another terrific guest and sponsor today: Concord & 9th. 

Concord & 9th has some of the most original designs out there, I think, and so I can't wait to see what they sent me! (And the rest of Tracey's design team, of course.) Canada Post labour issues strike again (so to speak?). In the meantime, I pulled out a couple of sets that I have to make this: 

The twig wreath comes from the Love You Mean It set, (sadly, it appears to have been retired). I turned and stamped the wreath three times then embossed it in sparkly embossing powder. Doing a quarter of the wreath at a time, I stamped the tiny berries and embossed in red. The to and from are from the Perfectly Penned alphabet set - yes, I used some of the little stamps at the bottom that are so easy to overlook! I had originally thought I would leave the centre of the tag open, but it seemed to need something else, so I added some patterned paper to the back and fussy cut it to match the outside of the wreath. The deep red ribbon brings out the red of the berries.

25 Days of Christmas Tags: Day 2

Day Two of Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags! Today we are sponsored by Altenew. 

Altenew sent the Tag team some lovely goodies to play with... except there are currently some labour issues with Canada Post, and so mine are somewhere between New York State and here in Ontario. I will definitely play with them when I get them, but in the meantime, I combined a couple of my sets to make this: 

This uses the dies from Altenew's Create a Wreath set and sentiments from the Tulip stamp set - you know I get a kick out of using a spring-themed set for Christmas! I did some distress ink smooshing on watercolour paper and cut my two branches. And yes, I did cut one *backwards* so I could have them framing the top of the circle. The softer quality of watercolour paper means it's very difficult to see the raw die edges. After embossing the sentiment in white, I adhered the branches and added some white Nuvo dots - mistletoe, right? And the circle was an exact fit for my ornament tag die... like it was meant to be.

25 Days of Christmas Tags Begins!

It's that time of year! Once again, November brings Tracey McNeely's annual event, 25 Days of Christmas Tags! Tracey gathers together companies and designers from around the stamp and card making world for almost a month of incredible tag making! Take a look at this year's participating companies, who are incidentally also offering amazing prizes:

Speaking of prizes, here is how you can be in the running to win one: 

Prizes will be drawn from any or all of these things...

1. Comment on the posts each day on what you saw that inspires you.
2. Follow the blog hop and comment along the way.
3. Participate by creating your own tags. The rules for participating are simple, you must create a Christmas tag inspired by a tag you see during the event and you must state in your post (blog, IG, etc.) the day and the tag you were inspired by. Enter as many tags as you like.

I am quite taken with this cute retro Santa face! I knew right away he'd have to feature on my tag. He's stamped and embossed, coloured with Copics and fussy-cut. Then I used some of the smaller images from the same set to add a snowy white-embossed background to my dark red tag. On top, I added the sentiment in black ink and sparkly embossing powder. It shows up more in real life than in the photo, but I like the way it doesn't overshadow Santa.
