The Snarky Sisters are Elfish

Happy Saturday! No tags from me today, since it's time for a new Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge: E is for ELVES! I dug deep in my stash, found an elf, and this card resulted:

This elf is stamped on a light grey cardstock. Why? I don't know, because it was originally stamped by my friend Emily, and when she didn't use it, passed it on to me. So colouring was a bit of a challenge, but I think he looks okay. Sparkle never hurts, so I sparkled the present as well as the holly leaves I added to his hat, along with glitter cardstock berries. Some patterned paper, a sentiment, and I've added another Christmas card to the box!

Lots of elves over on the Snarky blog, from my Sistahs and our guest designer and current Queen of Snark, Natalie! Be elfish and join us!

Inkspirational: Photo

Happy Saturday! It's time for a brand new Inkspirational - and look at this sweet photo we have for you! Lots of elements you can take as inspiration. Since I happen to have a grey cat, oh look, my card features a grey cat:

I knew I wanted to use this cat, and I wanted him on a box - and it took a bit of searching to find one that was the right size! I stamped the cat, masked him, and then stamped the box. For the frame panel, I blended a couple of colours of distress ink, added some pine boughs, then die cut the window. So that the fussy cutting "halo" wasn't the only white on the card, I stamped and embossed the sentiment on white.

As always, it's fun to see all the different directions the rest of the Inkspirational team went after looking at this photo. Check out their designs, and then I hope you'll join us!

Supplies: Neenah white & Stampin' Up garden green cardstock, Hero Arts Decorate You, Lawn Fawn Holiday Helpers, Sunny Studio Stamps Christmas Trimmings & Studio Katia Happy Snowmen stamps, Versamark, Versafine onyx black, Stampin' Up garden green, bundled sage & mowed lawn distress ink, Wow clear gloss embossing powder, Copic markers, Studio Katia elegant scallop oval die

25 Days of Christmas Tags: The Wrap-Up

You have a few days left to join the fun at the 25 Days of Christmas Tags, hosted by Tracey McNeely! My work for the event is done, but just for fun, here's what almost a month's worth of tags looks like, 77 to be exact!

Some days I made one tag; other days I made 12! Altogether, 77 of them. Will I give 77 gifts this year? No. Will I run out of colour-coordinated tags before I'm finished wrapping presents? Quite likely. :D I may give some of the tag sets away to friends, as well.
As a challenge to myself, I also made a card every day of the Tag event. And here they are!

While some days it was a bit stressful to get a card made on top of doing my tags, I'm glad I did this, as I am now 26 cards to the good for my holiday stash.
Remember you still have almost a week to participate in the tag event, by making tags inspired by the tags you've seen, by commenting on designers' tag posts, or both! And in the meantime, I have some cards to make. ;)

25 Days of Christmas Tags: Bonus Day 26!

This is it, really - the FINAL day of the 25 Days of Christmas Tags! Yes, Day 26 of the 25 Days is here. And so today, we are welcoming our bonus day guest and sponsor, My Favorite Things

I went full-on cute for my tags today. Here's my first one:

This sitting bear is the perfect size for a tag! And since I knew I wanted to use BEARing gifts sentiment, I gave him a little pail of fishy presents. I like the way the white bear pops on the kraft base.

This second and last (at least for a few days, LOL!) tag might just be my favourite of the month!

His face! Perfect for the precipitous angle of the mountain he's trying to snowboard down! Since I do a lot of things in red, I gave him a green hat and scarf, just for variety. His board is a stylin', ombré blue. Stay Cool seemed like just the right sentiment for this little guy!

And yes, I have one final card for Day 26, as well. To give you an indication of how well I work ahead, I decided to design my card around the MFT Sketch Challenge that came out at noon my time yesterday. :D

The trio of circles seemed perfect for some Bitty Bears! I stayed very close to the sketch, possibly because after almost a month of daily making, it was nice to have something preplanned for me. :D Simple colouring, and a circle to match each colour. I tried them on their corresponding circle, but they looked much better on different ones. As I didn't want just a plain main panel, I experimented with some patterned papers, but then remembered this foiled piece that I made recently but didn't use. It added some shine and interest to the design, as did some sparkle marker on the Santa hat and the present.

I hope you've enjoyed this 2020 tag extravaganza! BIG thanks to Tracey for her hard work organizing this event and keeping it running smoothly. More thanks go to our generous sponsors! And to all of you, for your comments, views, and so much tag-making. The link-up on the tag main post will be open for a few more days, so you still have time to get inspired and make more tags. If you've liked what you've seen here, I hope you'll visit again some time!

25 Days of Christmas Tags: DAY 25!!!

It is the 25th of November, one month away from CHRISTMAS, and Day 25 of Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags!!! Sounds like it's the last day, but if you've participated in the past, you know we may just have a bonus day tucked up our sleeve. But in the meantime, it really is Day 25, and our guest and sponsor today is Pretty Pink Posh

For my tags today, I decided to go both cute and classy. The cute one first, of course:

With a little masking, I placed an igloo behind my wintry, bundled-up girl. The igloo looks grey in the photo, but it's really watercolored in sparkly white Gansai Tambi paint. I added a lighter coat of the same paint to the snow, and some Twinkling H2Os for the sky. With all the shimmer, I decided I didn't need any extra on her fur-trimmed hood. Instead of adding a sentiment to the already-full front, I made this a flip-open tag, with the sentiment on the second layer.

I haven't made many floral tags this month, so I used a beautiful amaryllis set for my second tag:

I also haven't used watercolour powders this month, so got out my shimmery pink Pixie Paint to colour this amaryllis bloom. The tag base is upcycled from some promotional junk mail, with the added bonus that it's white on the other side, for writing on. I added a smaller tag with a simple sentiment.
For today's card, I used a Pretty Pink Posh set that I had to have after seeing designers use it last year!

Since it's Day 25, I thought it only appropriate to use a tag on my card front! ;) I love these little sign-bearing images, and there haven't been nearly enough penguins this month, so he was my choice. While I could have stamped some snowflakes around him, the more obvious choice seemed to be some classic Pretty Pink Posh sparkling sequins.

If you've been playing along, I hope like me you've found it helped November to fly by a little more quickly! Remember, you can be eligible to win one of the many prizes by making tags inspired by the designers' tags you see, and/or by commenting on designers' tags. And yes, come back tomorrow for one final bonus day!

25 Days of Christmas Tags: Day 24

Day 24, people! Day 24 of Tracey McNeely's the 25 Days of Christmas Tags event! Today our guest and sponsor is Heffy Doodle

Heffy Doodle gave me a chance to add a little humour to a tag!

Warmest Wishes and a melted snowman - too subtle? :D After stamping the snowman components and doing some simple colouring, I stamped and embossed the sentiment. For the background, I used the Heffy Doodle Starfall stencil with Picket Fence snowdrop white paper glaze on my darkest blue cardstock.

And I have a card for today!

I made a little North Pole scene with images from Santa's Village. For the background, I masked off the bottom and blended an Arctic sky.

Remember to visit Tracey's blog to see the inspiration from the Heffy Doodle team and my tag teammates! You can win one of the many prizes on offer by commenting on designers' posts, or by creating your own tag inspired by one of today's projects. Hope you'll join us!

25 Days of Christmas Tags: Day 23

Happy Monday! Welcome to Day 23, and the last week of the 25 Days of Christmas Tags. Today we are welcoming a brand new guest and sponsor, Penguin Palace

Penguin Palace is a relatively new Canadian stamp company. So new, in fact, that so far there are not a lot of Christmas products. But who are we to let that stop us? ;) My first tag:

These cute festive libations are from the Fun Night Out set. The tag base I'm using? It was part of a die set I won the very first time I participated in Tracey's tag event! It seemed appropriate to use it, and it was just the right size as well. I stamped and embossed the four images, gave them some simple colouring - as well as writing "VIN" on the bottle label, then added a patterned paper sentiment. Quick and cute!
For my second tag, I may have thought outside the box a little too much. :D You can let me know what you think...

This tag started its life as... a disco dance floor. I stamped it twice, back to back, and embossed it in silver on watercolour paper. Red and green Twinkling H2Os make it shimmery in real life. I was going for a stained glass ornament feel, but I'm still undecided about it. I do like the 3D optical illusion it gives. Back when I was a teacher, two students had parents who would give me stained glass ornaments they had made, and that's where my inspiration arose.
Since making a card each day this year is my own personal challenge, I decided it was okay to mix a couple of other stamps in:

This cute little kitty is wearing a top hat in the Fun Night Out set, but with a little masking, I was able to switch it out for a Santa hat. Her outfit definitely works for a festive party - not that we're having those this year. :( The snowflake patterned paper works nicely with her navy pencil skirt. I also added a stamped and embossed sentiment from a very old Hero Arts set.

As always, lots of inspiration on today's tag post! Remember, you can be eligible for one of our many prizes by commenting on today's tags and/or by being inspired to create a tag of your own! I hope you will join in on the fun.

25 Days of Christmas Tags: Day 22

Welcome to Day 22 of the 25 Days of Christmas Tags, hosted by Tracey McNeely! Today we have another brand-new guest and sponsor, Erin Lee Creative!

As a new 25 Tags sponsor, Erin Lee sent a generous package to the tag team. My first tag:

Minimal colouring involved here, although since it's a Christmas tag, I couldn't resist giving this zentangled deer a red nose. :D Red and green banners with some shimmer marker is the only other colouring. Looking through my bin-of-many tags, I loved how perfectly the antlers fit on this circle tag. Ribbon and twine finished the simple tag.

My second tag is, perhaps, truer to the stamp design:

My elk is embossed in a cool, noche d'oro embossing powder. Once again, minimal colouring, with just a few red and green beads, and the larger pendants coated with iridescent glitter glue. The sentiment is embossed in clear gold sparkle powder. I added gold crystals and gold check ribbon to coordinate. I was going to frost the kraft tag in white ink, but decided instead to add a little glimmer paste for more sparkle.

It's the home stretch now, so I'm hoping to keep up with my goal of a card each day:

This time I embossed the deer in another fun embossing powder, black gold. I created the background panel using a mask cut from a tree die, and blended distress inks for a night sky. To coordinate, the antler banners are blue Copic and gold Smooch paint.

As always, there is a ton of inspiration on Tracey's blog today. Whether you are inspired to create tags of your own, or inspired to comment on designers' posts, you will be in the running to win one of our many sponsor prizes!
