A Touch of Red at Seize the Birthday

Happy Thursday, and welcome to the last Seize the Birthday challenge for 2019! Not that we don't appreciate people that were born in December, but we've got all the birthday cards we need to see us through the year, thanks to our bi-weekly challenges! Now we can madly dash off all the holiday cards we need. :D
Glenda chose our topping this go-round, and asked us to add "A Touch of Red".

If you know Glenda the way I know Glenda, you'll know that asking for just a touch of red is showing considerable restraint. ;) So I attempted to show restraint in my card, as well:

I started by embossing the roses background stamp in a beautiful moonstone embossing powder - it's not quite gold, but not quite silver, either. I trimmed the panel to the size I wanted, then coloured the one focal rose. The roses are mounted on a thin black mat, and the sentiment added on the card base.
I did very little colour blending on the rose, but somehow, it seems to work, to my eye at least. This Copic colouring is for Kathy Racoosin's The Daily Marker 30 Day colouring challenge.

There are touches of red all over the Seize the Birthday blog today, from the design team and our current surprise party guest, Annie. Of course, if red's not your thing, we love to see all birthday cards in our linky party, so come and join us!

This is my second post of the day...

  2. Great topping, although don't know if I could use that much restraint, fabulous embossing and a fabulous card.

  3. If you're going to add just a touch of red Lindsey, why not make it the most beautiful touch of red EVER?!!! Such a stunning rose, beautifully coloured. Vicky x

  4. This is amazing! I want to make one myself. I am always intimidated by this stamp because I thought it would involve too much coloring....(although that did not stop me from buying it!!) Will be copying this soon.

  8. That is an awesome idea to use a background stamp and color only one rose in red! I love your card, Lindsey!
