Happy September Blog Hop! This month, the Scrap 'n Stamp design team are ruffling their creative tail feathers with a FOR THE BIRDS theme! I managed to find a few birds to put on my card:
I'm using the fun Concord & 9th Birdie Talk turnabout stamp set and coordinating dies. Confession time though: I have yet to master this particular turnabout stamp. Luckily, the design itself is funky enough that I can get away with things being slightly off... that's what I tell myself, at least! :D It did help me come to the design decision to add a vellum panel over it - of course, it's really to make sure the big die cut bird doesn't fade into the background. ;) The bird, branch and speech bubble are cut from various colours of cardstock scraps. I picked one of the set's sentiments to white emboss on the speech bubble. It was easy to adhere the vellum onto the card base - I just added my adhesive under the bird, branch and bubble!
As we do every month, we are offering a $50 gift certificate to one lucky blog hop commenter! Here's the master list:

ReplyDeleteOkay, despite my bird terror, I admit that this is one very adorable bird-themed card! Your bluebird star-of-the-show is cute; his beak isn't too pointy or pecky!

ReplyDeleteLove this adorable birdie and fun sentiment!! Great addition of the vellum to soften the fun birdie bg for the sweet one on top! Love these stamps and dies and have never tried the turn around stamps yet. This one looks like you did it perfect but we are all our worse critics! Love it!
ReplyDeleteLove this card! I used a turnabout stamp that I did not feel successful with. After reading your post, I dug out the panel I stamped, found a die cut and used vellum, and now have a card I am proud to send to my sister. Thanks for the inspiration!!! I don’t know what I would do without these blogs as the help me find a starting point for all my cards.
