Welcome back for the mid-month Color Hues challenge! Today we have a fun colour pairing for you to try: lime green and aqua. As often happens when someone selects specific hues (versus, say, BLUE or GREEN), I had to attend a little mini-conference on what these colours might represent. Sessions included: if Wikipedia says aqua and cyan are the same, is that good enough for me? and lime green - so much brighter than a lime's rind. (I also attended the special break-out workshop: why is random stamping so hard?) All these helped me put my card together:
I began by stamping these flowers - in cyan! identical to aqua! - on my card panel. The centres are stamped in green (no named lime green pad in my collection) and sparkled with a marker. The Paper Hugs sentiment is coloured with the same ink, and sprayed with sparkle mist. It's layered on a black-inked die cut to give that little shadow effect. The card base is also sponged with green ink, so everything could be matchy-matchy.
Supplies: Neenah white cardstock, Concord & 9th Filled in Florals stamps, Colorbox cyan, Catherine Pooler garden party & MFT extreme black ink, Simon Says Stamp Paper Hugs & Winnie & Walter Katharine cutaway pierced rectangle frame die, Spectrum Noir clear glitter sparkle pen, Tsukineko clear shimmer spray, Studio Katia crystal clear confetti
Well, you definitely nailed the colors! Better than I did, I should have come with to the mini conference. Your random stamping looks amazing and I love the bold shadowed sentiment. Love this, Lindsey!
ReplyDeleteI got the chuckle of the day when I read about your training sessions! Maybe you should open them up for other participants. I love your bright and happy card. The sentiment is fabulous and your random stamping is just perfect!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful, joyful and full of good vibes card !!

Sounds like you were very attentive at your mini-conference/break-out session (you're too funny!), because the results are fabulous! Consider your random flowers a success; a wonderful background for your matchy-matchy sentiment and base! Any conference recommendations for igniting creativity? I think mine is entirely LOST!

ReplyDeleteAwesome card, love the big sentiment layered look, really pops, random stamping is great, and I love the colours.
ReplyDeleteHa! Love all of your "disclaimers and explanations". This card is awesome!
ReplyDeleteHahahah! Loved this post! I head right to google when it comes to checking my thoughts of what a tone of color may look like. However, sometimes that makes matters worse. LOL. Love your beautiful flowers and bold greeting! Great card no matter the shade! Have a great Sunday!
ReplyDeleteLove your little intro about aqua v cyan, saw that on Wiki too, Altenew made it easy for me when they named their inks!
ReplyDeleteYour daisies look fab with their aqua petals and I love the lime green sentiment. :)
Your card is beautiful and your crafting inspiration is hilarious. I must admit to often consulting the dictionary for inspiration, especially for the CASology cue words.
