I am also working my way through a few more of my bought-it-haven't-used-it supplies, and so I'm using this Dahlia stamp and die set for the first time. To start, I die cut the flower - it's a turnabout die! So my alignment for all the turns wasn't scientifically precise, but definitely close enough for a first attempt. Cutting the flower first let me see where I wanted to have my colours on the watercolour panel - after looking at a few dahlia photos, I decided on yellow for the centre and red around that. Of course, with the powders, I get lots of fun variations in colour, too. While the panel dried, I picked my sentiment and stamped and embossed the two parts. Then it was a simple matter of putting it together and adding a little bling!
Since it's my first card with this set, I'm adding the card to Darnell's May NBUS challenge.
Whether you decide to make your mark with your favourite medium, or experiment with a new one, I hope you'll make a card and join us!
Supplies: Neenah white & scrap fuchsia cardstock, Canson watercolour paper, Concord & 9th Dahlia Turnabout stamps & die, Versafine onyx black ink, Hero Arts clear sparkle embossing powder, bright yellow & red Magenta Nuance watercolour powders, Hero Arts gems

Beautiful bloom!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so vibrant and beautiful, Lindsey. Also, thanks for the reminder--I bought that set and die and never bothered to learn how to use it. Big mistake. Your gorgeous card is all the incentive I need to pull out my die and give it a go.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous card, Lindsey and I love the vibrant colours. I've never heard of a turnabout die before and my tired little brain is busy trying to work out how it would work!
ReplyDeleteHope you are well.

This is gorgeous, Lindsey ! A fabulous first trial with this die and I love your powders combo. I'm also in the mood of using what I have already in stock...it's hard isn't it ? Love the bold sentiment too, it's amazing ;-))
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I haven't delved into the powders. The effect is gorgeous
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colours with your powders, I forget about them!
ReplyDeleteWell done in aligning that die, I have it and it is definitely not as easy as they make it look. your colouring is stunning too. Thanks for reminding me about this gorgeous turnabout, I must get it out and show it some love xx
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful dahlia die and using the background panel was a perfect choice, Lindsey! It looks like a photo! Great idea for using up lots of powdered ink backgrounds that pile up when you have a play! Thank you for that and for sharing with everyone at NBUS! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I've been sitting here staring at your flower for at least 5 min. I love the color combo you chose and the blending of colors. You did an outstanding job.
