August! How did that happen? :D At least it's a Thursday, so I can introduce the newest Seize the Birthday challenge, with the optional *topping* of ⁕FLOWERS⁕.
I chuckled when I first saw this topping, since the majority of the design team uses flowers almost all the time! Remember, if you're not in a flowery mood, we love to see any new birthday card creations.
Here's a card that makes a statement with a single flower:
This mondo peony is embossed in white and coloured with watercolour powder. So easy but so effective! The soft grey leaves layered with vellum are totally stolen CASEd from Emily. For a little extra interest, I dry embossed the card base with a woodgrain pattern before adding the sentiment strip to the bottom.
I'll add this card to the current Wednesday Anything Goes challenge at Simon Says Stamp.
I may have gotten a little carried away with the whole flower theme:
This little clean and simple number has a rose-with-ladybug image from Paper Smooches and a sentiment from Clearly Besotted. Both are embossed with sparkly embossing powder and the ladybug has a shiny coat of Glossy Accents.
And one more:
This time the flower is a gerbera daisy by Uniko. I stamped the outline in black, then added both yellow and red to the solid layering stamp. I also used the outline stamp to make the banner. The grey panel keeps the look modern, I think.
I'll add this one to the Monday Simon Says Stamp challenge: Bright and Cheerful.
There is, of course, an entire bouquet of inspiration to be found on the Seize the Birthday blog, from both the design team and our current surprise party guest, Su! Getting flowers on a birthday is always nice, so why not play along?

ReplyDeleteBeautiful trio of flower cads. I really love that big bold, lovely red flower on the first card.
ReplyDeleteNow that you mentioned it...we are a flowery bunch! LOL Watercoloured powder?? I have not seen this! Or if I have I didn't know it. I am always behind the times when it comes to new products or mediums. This is absolutely stunning!!!! I really love how you did the sentiment strip on the bottom too! This is one of my all-time favs of your now! The other cards are lovely too! Red looks good on you!!!
ReplyDeleteI guess that flowers are me favorite thing to color. I love the large luscious red bloom on your first card, but the others are amazing too, you sure rocked this challenge.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful BIG RED flower! I love the coloring of the leaves too
ReplyDeleteWOW ! What a beautiful array of cards ! Love all these red flowers. What a stunning one with the Brushos. The second one is adorable with the glossy ladybug and what a great CAS card. And of course I'm totally in awe with your gorgeous Uniko gerbera. Love this stamp set. Thanks so much for sharing and for playing along at ATSM.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love the peony! Looks like silk, and I love the addition of texture on the leaves.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful botanicals Lindsey! Love the first bold bloom with it's watercoloury look! Gorgeous trio of cards, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous bunch of red flowers!! I loved all the versions - plus the grey and vellum leaves on the first one - that forms a great combo instead of the usual bright greens! Thanks for the inspiration!! :)
