It's Saturday, and time for a new Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge!
I is for Inky! We are looking for lots of inky goodness on your project. And while I didn't get quite as inky as Edna did, I did decide it was time to take my distress oxides out for a proper test run. Of course I had to buy a few when they first came out, since all the cool kids were playing with them! In my limited tests with them, I was rather underwhelmed. So thank you, Edna, for the push to get them out again! Of course when in doubt, what does a crafter do but refer to Jennifer McGuire, so I watched her original distress oxide video and tried a few of her ideas. Here's my first and favourite:
Look at how vibrant splatters of oxide inks are on black cardstock! I used all five colours of ink I owned and splattered each on regular black cardstock. The Tardis and sentiment are painty, not inky, but the background more than makes up for it, I think. :P Here's a close-up of the background — notice how the different splatters overlap, rather than blend as regular inks would:
For my second background, I used my oxides as watercolours to create a soft rainbow background for the farthest thing from a snarky card...
I was able to use one of the colours to stamp my sentiment too, since the oxides stamp more solidly than regular distress inks tend to do.
Are you ready to get inky, too? Just before you do, hop over to the challenge blog to see all the inky goodness my sisters have on display, as well as our current Queen of Snark and guest Mimi!

ReplyDeleteGreat use of the Distress Oxides in both cards. And I really adore that Tardis, whatever medium was used!
ReplyDeleteAnother British item pops in on the wedding!! Gorgeous background and fabulous card, the second one is so soft and soothing, another winner.

ReplyDeleteYou rocked it with a two-fer for the challenge!
Your Tardis card is fabulous and well done on the ombre look of number 2!
ReplyDeleteLove your Travis card! Following on Instagram now
ReplyDeleteAwesome card! I have to admit here that I am a super-nerd,and I knew that this was the Tardis... but I have put-off watching Dr. Who because I am afraid that once I start I won't be able to stop! So it's on my list for retirement (2 years). Gorgeous inkyness. If you like DOx's, go to The Funkie Junkie Boutique-- that's where I've purchased all of mine because her prices are so good! I have spoiled myself, though: every time a new set came out, I've bought the bundle. So I have 24! Tee-hee! A major indulgence, but I love DOx because... well, look at your project! They freaking rock!
ReplyDelete...and then there is reason #2 you are a master crafter... terrific card. Yep, not snarky, but lovely and inspiring.
ReplyDeleteTwo FAB-U-LOUS cards! I must try that technique you've used on card #2. Great stuff, Jo x
