Today starts a new challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers... K IS FOR KIDS! Something for kids, something featuring kids... should be easy, right? So of course I struggled with this for a while, mostly because I wanted to incorporate at least a bit of snark. Then I found a photograph on The Graphics Fairy that could portray an ancestor of mine, and a small lightbulb went on...
Isn't she adorable? And believe me, I know just how she feels. I do have a sunburst stamp, but it looked too defined for the background, so I used some scrap paper and sponged a sunburst instead. In the process, I got a smear of some other colour on the left edge of what I'd planned to use as the full background. So, I cut a bit off, added some heat-loving patterned paper, and a fancier card design was born.
Our latest Queen of Snark and Guest Designer is Donna — you'll want to see what she and my snarky sisters have dreamed up for our latest challenge. Hope you will come and join in on the snarky fun!
Supplies: white, yellow & Stampin' Up very vanilla & more mustard cardstock, Stampin' Up (I think) patterned paper, Graphics Fairy image, Memento dandelion ink, Lil' Inkers stitched sunshine & cloud dies
When did they take this picture of me as a child??? I was the humidity queen! Love this soooo much, Jo x
ReplyDeleteI love this card. That is all. ☺
ReplyDeleteI literally laughed out loud at this, Lindsey! Although I have the opposite prob with humidity (total flatness) I had lunch with my BFF yesterday who suffers from the expanding brillo pad syndrome. Fortunately we now live in CA rather than the midwest, but she still goes to have that expensive super 4 hour long flat iron treatment every 3 months to smooth it out. I'd say your background "oopsies" are serendipity. LOVE this card. I may have to make a version for Lisa. Thanks so much for letting me join you at the Sisterhood this week. xxD
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha! Funny!
ReplyDeleteThat is me all the time - my hair used to be greasy until I reached, ahem, a certain age and now it's a total frizz fest. Don't be deceived by my Facebook photo, it took two professional stylists 5 hours to get it looking like that, and even then only stayed that way until bedtime.
ReplyDeleteJane
That image is adorable, love the sentiment and I have three grandsons that think that too. Super card!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the card, remember there are no mistakes just opportunities to embellish.
ReplyDeleteThis is so much me :) Not that I look so young ... LOL!! A fab creation, dear Sistah!
ReplyDeleteI like that bit of patterned paper in the background. I think it gives it a good pop. Love the card, but I have Marcia Brady hair. Nothing I do will give my hair volume.
ReplyDeleteLove the sunburst!!!
ReplyDeleteSadly this is not me...I would love some humidity inspired curl in my far too straight (other than the stupid cowlicks) hair...sigh
