Tags Day Four + A Card

Day Four of Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags event, and I'm still up-to-date! I already know I will fall behind as of tomorrow, since I will be spending the day with Tracey and several other awesome crafters, so I doubt I'll be writing blog posts. ;)
Today I chose to be inspired by Debby Yates' pretty poinsettia tag. Here's my version:

I really liked Debby's white poinsettia embossed in gold, with the red topper and gold accents. I stamped and cut the poinsettia three times so I could layer it. I couldn't find a sentiment I liked to go with the rest of the design, so I picked this patterned paper for the tag base instead. I used a new-to-me embossing powder, gold tinsel,  for the poinsettia — I love it! Hard to photograph, but here's a hint:

I next started a card (more on that in a sec), but it involved a lot of spray misting, so while that dried, I decided to make a second tag based on the two by Caryn Davies. I liked the patterned paper with the contrasting middle sentiment panel. I did go with bolder colours, though...

Instead of embellishments on the tag itself, I went for twine, ribbon and some jingle bells for the tie.
My spray misting was for the current Muse: ChristmasVisions challenge, where Kimberley Wiener has provided a great Muse card for inspiration:

I was inspired by the large JOY with an image in the centre "O", the glitter strip along the bottom and the overall clean design. Here's my interpretation:

If you look carefully at the stem of the "Y", you can see a bit of the gold shimmer my "Santa Baby" mist added to the letters along with the red. (They began white.) I decided to substitute a wreath for the middle instead of a letter with an image. The centre of the wreath seemed so empty, I added the smaller sentiment. I would have totally done a gold glitter strip along the bottom, but I realized I don't have gold glitter. Green it was.
Happy weekend!

  3. It's been awhile since I've left a comment (and I owe you an email also), but your post today was awesome. Your tags the past few days have been beautiful, but today you've given me several ideas that I have to try (like I don't have enough to do). And your card is beautiful. I really like the sentiment in the middle of the wreath...it "completes" the card.
