Hooray for Saturdays! And this particular Saturday starts a new challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers:
Is our mascot, Edna, not looking fabulous once again? Our challenge this week is to make a one layer card. In a way too convoluted to explain, somehow the Sisters got from one-layer cards to a one layer, or FLAT, Edna! (Think of Flat Stanley, with added snark.) Our graphics maven Lee took her Edna to Rothenburg for the afternoon and this challenge badge is one result. Our flat Ednas have been everywhere! Flat Edna and I spent a recent weekend in our nation's capital, Ottawa:

One layer cards are hard! If you mess up, there's no way to hide it. Well, other than starting to add layers to the messed-up card, then trying again to make a new one layer. So I am pretty pleased that this card only took one try! That may be a one layer first for me. I also used a stamp set I won ages ago that had yet to make it to a card. The bottom edge is sponged in the same green as the foliage, while the top is sponged with blue. I stamped the sentiment in grey rather than black to keep everything soft and muted.
CAS on Sunday happens to be looking for sympathy cards for their current challenge, so I'm linking there.
Be sure to visit all the Sisters' blogs to see not only their one layer card inspiration, but also where Flat Edna has been! We also have a terrific guest designer, Pink Unicorn. You have until August 8th to show us your own one layer creation. You may just be our next Queen of Snark!
Supplies: Neenah solar white 110 lb cardstock, Gina K. tropical flowers & Unity bevy of butterflies stamps, Memento new sprout, lulu lavender & Luxe grey flannel inks
(One layer card making bonus: short supply list!)
Gorgeous card Lindsey!
ReplyDeleteI love that Flat Edna is cozying up to a soldier, like me, she must have a thing for men in uniform...hubba hubba!
I have a hard time with 1 layer cards, but in my effort to keep my cards simple this week, I might have to join you. Nice sympathy card...if sympathy cards can be nice? :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sympathy card, Lindsey!! Love the soft colours, such a wonderful one-layer card!!
ReplyDeleteYou're right about the sympathy cards, and when you need one you sure don't feel like crafting, eh? Yours is lovely and I'm having a ball seeing flat Edna enjoy the sights. xxD
ReplyDeleteGeez, Edna really gets around! I had to look really closely to realize she wasn't perched in the statue's hand! And you already know I love your card :)
ReplyDeleteI can see flat Edna has been really busy this week, lol! The card is really pretty and the delicate stamp is so great for a sympathy card. And doesn't it feel nice to finally use something you have had lying around for a long time.
ReplyDeleteI love Edna with the guard. I like the soft colors that you used. I hope this card sits on your shelf for a long time.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear that Flat Edna had a good time in Ottawa, looks like the weather was kind to her; she might go a bit limp in the rain!
ReplyDeleteThe soft colours and pretty border of flowers is perfect for a sympathy card. Well done on the first attempt record too. I made a simple but not one layer card the other day and it took five attempts, unbelievable as there is hardly anything to the design!
Heather
Very pretty sympathy card. And, your Flat Edna really cracks me up.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous, Linds! Beautiful stamping and colour choices!
ReplyDeleteOops, I forgot to mention that your Flat Edna photos are hilarious. I did that with Flat Stanley in Montreal!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing Flat Edna in her travels. You are right that one layer cards do make great sympathy cards. I like yours, very nice!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty card ..
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining us at CAS on Sunday.
