Crafty Creations Challenges: Oh, Baby!

Today on the Crafty Creations Challenges blog we are starting a new challenge looking for baby cards! Whether it's for a baby shower or to welcome a newborn, show us your baby-related paper creativity. This week we are sponsored by The Stamping Boutique. Tracey is offering this week's winner a choice of three images from her store.

I kept my design very clean and simple. (I know, big surprise!) The sentiment is a digital freebie from Paper Crafts magazine. I thought those baby-block-like letters just called out to be popped up. Down the left-hand side is some DIY washi tape using rice paper and a small Unity stamp.
Whether your style is clean and simple or more detailed, whether you make cards or other paper crafts, come show us your baby-related creations!

Supplies: white cardstock, rice paper, Unity October 2010 Kit of the Month "Take Time to Laugh", Paper Crafts magazine digital sentiment, pop-dot tape, Creative Memories corner-rounder punch

Friends with {Retirement} Flair

Happy Friday! Hope it's a beautiful sunny day where you are, as it is where I am. I came in from the deck long enough to make a retirement card for a friend whose party is this evening:

It's not specifically a retirement sentiment, but it seemed to express what I want to wish her as she moves on from her career.
Don't forget to check out the Unity Friends with Flair hop for lots of great inspiration! (There's a big sale, too... be careful!) :D And now, back to the deck...

Supplies: white & assorted colour cardstock, Unity Giving It All Meaning, Direction of Your Heart, Bevy of Butterflies & Gratitude=Joy stamps, Versamark, Colorbox frost white & Memento nautical blue inks, white embossing powder

Get Well Friday

To me, making get well cards ranks right up there with making sympathy cards. I own nothing remotely "get well" specific. Fortunately, for me -- and the people I know, come to think of it -- I rarely need them. Today, I needed one, however, so mixed a couple of stamps, a computer generated sentiment, and my favourite copied-from-Heather style.

I may or may not have decided to sponge in green because Heather recently did, and I happened to have the same inks. ;)  Before I sponged in the colours, I stamped and embossed the text background. Taking the post-it masks off, I stamped the butterfly and embossed with holographic embossing powder. I tried to catch a little bit of the iridescence  here:

While the holographic embossing works better (I think) on coloured ink, I liked that it kept the butterfly from being just, well, black. (I had originally planned to do flower silhouettes over the masked panel, but at the last minute thought they might seem a little gloomy for a get well card. Whereas a butterfly is never gloomy!) I could have done all this right on the card base, but I knew I wanted the sentiment banner folded over the edge on the one side. Both the main panel and the banner are popped up. A few half-pearls finished everything off.
After missing a couple of weeks, I'm linking to today's Unity Friends with Flair hop. Have a fabulous Friday!

Wedding Bells at Crafty Creations Challenges

This week at Crafty Creations Challenges, we are looking for wedding or anniversary projects! Our sponsor is Digital Paper Craft, and the design team was provided with a great selection of images to use. Here's what I came up with:

I decided to use two of the images to create my own patterned paper. I picked up on the colour of the cake stand and added some gold ribbon and a gold-embossed sentiment. While I made it as a wedding card, it could also be used for a golden wedding anniversary, I think.
Pop on over to the Crafty Creations Challenges blog to see what the rest of the design team has created!  And remember to link up your own wedding or anniversary design for a chance to win!
