I am a tea drinker. Which is funny, because I spent the first couple of decades of my life as a coffee-lover. My dad would share his coffee with me from my toddler-hood, and by high school, I was a confirmed java-fiend. (Completely debunks the whole coffee stunts your growth myth, by the way.) But nowadays, apart from the odd Starbucks coffee-based beverage, it's all tea, all the time.
Emily, knowing this, gave me a perfect stamp set for Christmas. To thank her, I sent her a card made with it:
When I was designing this card in my mind (you know, in the middle of the night, half-asleep?), I was picturing paper-piecing the teapot and cup. Well, no, not if they're solid stamps. So instead, I "kissed" them with my Hero Arts envelope background. I was really pleased that the white ink worked over the darker blue; I wasn't sure it would. And, it just so happens that Lily Pad Cards is currently running a Kissing Challenge, so of course I'm going to link up to it. And I can never resist a Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge!
Supplies: white cardstock, Papertrey Ink (I think) patterned paper, Lawn Fawn My Cup of Tea stamps, Hero Arts envelope pattern stamp, VersaMagic Aegean blue, Colorbox frost white, Memento London fog & Versafine onyx black inks, clear embossing powder, white floss, pop-dot tape
I've never done the kissing technique (at least not with stamps...lol!) Awesome card for an equally awesome friend! Great color combo.
ReplyDeleteThat envie background is perfect for the kissing technique and looks awesome on the tea pot and cup! And I love the wallpaper background. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to kiss the pattern onto the solid stamp. LOVELY!
ReplyDeleteSOOOOO pretty! I LOVE how you kissed the image! I also love that you are half-asleep when you design your creations! ME TOO:)
ReplyDeleteThis is a very sweet card; I love the teabag hanging out of the pot. A kissing challenge...? what a novel idea!

I love that you REMEMBER your ideas when you're half asleep! I always seem to remember them in a crazy way (I was going to make a WHAT?) if at all.
ReplyDeleteLove the kissed pattern - it adds so much texture! - and the sentiment just rocks :)
This card really is awesome and I'm glad you love the stamp set, Linds! The kissing is perfect for those solid images and looks fabulous.

ReplyDeleteI too am an avid tea drinker. Yummy! There are so many flvours and types. Mmmmmmmmm.
Beautiful card, I love the effect of the kissed tea pot & cup. It looks great.
First, I think it's awesome that your dad fed you coffee as a toddler -- don't most toddlers need LESS energy?
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to beverages, I swing both ways, so I do indeedy love this card -- the kissed texture, the wallpaper-like paper, that tiny tag. So cool!
This is a seriously fabulous card featuring one of my favorite stamp sets. I love how you stamp kissed the teapot and cup...I love everything about this sweet card! So glad you joined us at Lily Pad Cards!
