Many people embrace autumn -- the crisp mornings, the changing colours, cozy sweaters. I don't. I hold on to summer for as long as possible. Like with this card:
This is for my step-son's birthday, so it was a collaborative effort. My husb suggested a card with a deck chair. Amazingly, a stamp set with a deck chair was clearing at Michaels! I used some great paper from Echo Park for the sky, but then realized I had nothing to match it for the water. Luckily, Caribbean twine works perfectly... and the name's appropriate, too! I used more Echo Park paper to piece the beach umbrella. My husb also contributed what the sentiment should say and the idea of the beer mug. We thought of a champagne bottle in the sand beside the chair, but I didn't have anything to the right scale.
So as the days get cooler, I'll just imagine myself in this little scene... ☺
Supplies: white, red & oatmeal cardstock, Echo Park Sweet Summertime & Little Boy patterned paper, Stampendous Fun in the Sun & Amber Ink Hope, Popcorn & Wine stamps, Brilliance graphite black ink, clear embossing powder, Sharpies, Prismacolor pencils, Twinery Caribbean twine, dimensionals
Lindsey, I love it! What a beautiful way to celebrate your step son's day! Don't you just love it when it all comes together like this. I'm glad you got that cool stamp and on clearing too. Luckyyyyyyyyy!

Lindsey, this card is amazing! I LOVE how you used the twine as the water, it is just perfect. :)
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to thank you so much for the kinds words you have left on my blog. :)
You are adorable and hilarious, thanks for the pick me up!
Ahhhhhhh, totally relaxing! Love it.
ReplyDeleteOHHH! What a fun beach card--makes me want to drive there now! Only 20 minutes and I'm there! Great use of twine too:)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you...I love the summer. Awwww---this card really makes me think about summer. Love it! The beer is a great addition. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Linds: clinging onto summer like Kate Winslet in Titanic. This card is definitely one of my faves from you! Not only did you pull out one of my favorite color combos (red and pale blue), but the use of the twine as ocean, the fantastic fussy-cutting of the deck chair (and paper piecing of umbrella), and the perfect sentiment (and beer mug accent) all make me swoon (almost like heat stroke!). Mr Bashful and you should do more collaborations!
ReplyDeleteEeek, this is so cute! This is such a different style for you and I love it when you surprise me. I hope your step-son loved it!
