There's still snow on the deck, and snow in the yard, but it really is starting to feel just a little bit like spring! Soon we'll be able to go out and look for pussy willows in the bush.
I do like it when this type of card works -- simple, but a little bit stylish. I cut an oval out of a post-it note so I could lightly sponge the blue background. The pussy willow branch is stamped and then clear-embossed. (I showed the technique the other day to a friend who is planning on making her own wedding invitations. It's fun to watch someone else enjoy the magic of heat embossing for the first time!) I added some white flocking to the catkins for texture... and because otherwise the sponging shows through! ;)
This card fits this week's Simon Says Stamp and Everybody Art Happy Birthday challenges as well as this week's Do You Stack Up (DYSU#11) challenge to add a bow.
Supplies: white & blue cs, Sunshine Designs pussy willow, JudiKins calligraphic sentiments, Stormy Sky & Vintage Photo distress inks, clear embossing powder, Studio G white fresh flocking, white Offray ribbon
That sponged oval really makes this card -- brilliant idea!
ReplyDelete(I remember being that person stunned by heat embossing...if there was any question I'd become a stamper, it was answered by the call of the heat gun....)
Clean, Simple and elegant! Wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing your creation with DYSU this week! It’s been great fun checking out your work on your blog!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Love the oval and that white flocking!
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, I totally call my DH in to watch metallic heat embossing sometimes. Magical!
I was working on a sympathy card trying to use this concept last night, except I used a square stamp for the background. I looks no where near as good as this lovely card...Wish I saw this before I began, lol. May have to go back now thanks to your creative genius :)
ReplyDeleteVery elegant, thanks for joining us at Do You Stack Up.
